Welcome! 1
Finally decided to kick my personal site back into gear and get something modern up. Here we go! I’m hoping to regularly update this with whatever is going on with both my work, personal and University interests. I’m doing it right now in the middle of the year since I’m heading to Apple’s WWDC next week and I suspect a few interesting things will come out of that.
The trip to WWDC comes as a result of winning several AUC (Apple University Consortium) Scholarships. The first of these was an AUC Honours Scholarship; this provides me with $4000 over the duration of my Computing Honours year (this year) to assist with my research project (using RFID for PIM, poke around the site for more information). The second scholarship was the rather epic AUC Student Developer Scholarship; this scholarship gets me a trip to WWDC in San Francisco this year and next year, a free loan of a top-spec MacBook Pro for two years, trips to various Australian-situated AUC conferences and Select membership to Apple’s Developer Connection - good stuff. In return for this scholarship I will be developing a significant piece of software - the majority of which will be open-sourced at the conclusion of the scholarship. More information on this project soon!
I’ll be joined at WWDC by several friends from UTas who were lucky enough to receive WWDC Scholarships from the very generous AUC. I’d also like to congratulate Jon Manning who, again thanks to the seemingly infinite generosity of the AUC, has received a Seeding Grant which includes a trip to a workshop in Sydney and well-specced Apple MacBook.
